The first thing I wanted to know when I saw this on Amazon was "what kind of white is this?" it's an absolute white, semigloss/satin range of sheen. The finish is very high quality, consistent opacity and feels like it might have been powder-coated and then baked on. It's not a cheap/bluish fluorescent white, or an office-like sort of cream white. This is a balanced, bright, opaque white - ideal for clean, modern environments. With the wheels installed, it is exactly 27.625" tall. You cannot see the wheels, as they are inset from the corners and housed by the cabinet exterior. This creates a floating effect that is aesthetically pleasing on hardwood or concrete flooring. The file cabinet arrived in a huge, sturdy box with a lot of foam reinforcement. The box itself was half destroyed, but the cabinet survived without a single scratch or ding. Make sure you're on-premises when this arrives so you can have the carrier take responsibility if it is damaged. There's a lot of small file cabinets of this size range that are made of very thin metal, about as thin as a soda can. If you pay less than $100 for a two-drawer cabinet, that is what you are getting. Conversely, there is a high end file cabinet of the same size available from another manufacturer with radiused edges and cute handles for nearly twice the price. After some consideration I went for this Hirsh because it's a bit more compact and the lines are cleaner. Now that it's in place, I realize I was lucky to have made this decision because I can't imagine preferring any file cabinet to this one.To complete the aesthetic I dropped in two boxes of Smead light gray hanging folders, then printed 1/2" labels from a DYMO LabelManager 280, and without taking the backing off, the labels slide in and out of the tabs for easy labeling and updating of the filing system.I consider this to be one of my top 10 best purchases out of 18+ years of shopping on amazon.
